[Underground Classroom] Methods of Sociological Research
Introduction to Sociology Course 2: Methods of Sociological Research and Writing
As stated, when I first started posting my Underground Classroom material, I will be dedicating this project to posting lessons and materials that are often censored in so-called “Free States” like Florida. In this case, the State of Confusion Florida, is openly hostile to Sociology.
With that in mind, I’ve already posted a course on the Sociological Perspectives. In this course, students get some background into sociology as a discipline and an overview of the different perspectives or approaches to studying society. You can visit that page here.
Yes, the videos need some updating. For the sake of immediacy, I have reused my class videos from years ago when I first started teaching AICE Sociology. I’m a bit grayer now, but also more adept at videography. All in good time.
Now I’ve started Course 2: Methods of Sociological Research and Writing. This will cover Quantitative and Qualitative methods and Ethics in Sociological Research, as well as some writing workshops designed for AICE Sociology. Regardless, this course will be valuable for anyone taking a sociology course at the advanced or honors high school level, or taking undergraduate sociology, especially Introduction to or Principles of Sociology.

Don’t forget to order your copy of Stone is not Forever. This novel is a classic immigration tale. Follow young Dominico Rossa flee from the brutal and oppressive Padrone who rule his village, to the emigration port in Naples, to Ellis Island, only to return to his home village years later as a wounded soldier of the U.S. army. This is the story of how a young man pursues his dreams by coming to America. His struggles to hold onto those dreams, his battles to make them real, results in this young Italian growing into an American man.
